Human Mobility in Virtual and Real Worlds
نویسندگان
چکیده
The performance of networked systems that support common human activities, such as mobile communication and participation in online games, depends on the characteristics of human mobility. Human mobility models are crucial in the design and tuning of these systems, but depend on detailed and long-term human mobility traces, which, in turn, are difficult to obtain from real environments. Thus, although many human mobility models have already been developed, few have been validated against adequate traces. In contrast, in this work we investigate the use human mobility traces collected from realistic, human-like virtual worlds for the purpose of understanding human mobility and developing new mobility models. We collect traces for over 30,000 virtual citizens of a popular virtual world, and compare these traces with other realand virtual-world traces. Our analysis reveals that the mobility traces of humans in virtual and real worlds have many similar characteristics. We further propose SAMOVAR, a model for human mobility in virtual and real worlds that takes into account mobility characteristics such as the population-wide and individual area popularity. Based on synthetic traces generated from our and three other models, we conduct a simulation-based analysis of the impact of human mobility on the performance of virtual and real networked environments. We find that SAMOVAR leads to useful insights, and discriminates better than the other models among the performance of different networked environments. Human Pacman is an interactive role-playing game that envisions to bring the computer gaming experience to a new level of emotional and sensory gratification by setting the real world as a playground. This is a physical fantasy game integrated with human-social and mobile-gaming that emphasizes on collaboration and competition between players. By setting the game in a wide outdoor area, natural...
متن کاملComparison of Real and Legal Personality with Virtual Personality from a Moral Perspective in Iranian Law
Background: In the legal world, a person is not only referred to as a human being. In fact, in the world of law, a person has a more general concept that includes both human and non-human. The aim of this study was to compare real and legal personality with virtual personality from a moral perspective, as one of the important principles of Iranian law. In this regard, by understanding ethics an...
متن کاملAugmented Real World (ARW) Framework and Augmented Reality Modeling Language (ARML)
This paper describes how to construct an augmented real-world (ARW) framework for modeling an augmented real (AR) world and proposes an augmented reality modeling language (ARML) that can easily describe the AR world. ARW Framework enables virtual and real worlds to be combined using AR techniques. (In this paper, the term “virtual world” implies both the Web and the usual virtual reality (VR) ...
متن کاملSpatial Navigation in Virtual World
Absract One of the most challenging and complex tasks when working with virtual worlds is the navigation process. This chapter presents the possibilities of using neural networks as a tool for studying spatial navigation within virtual worlds. How it learns to predict the next step for a given trajectory, acquiring basic spatial knowledge in terms of landmarks and configuration of spatial layou...
متن کاملMolecular Docking Based on Virtual Screening, Molecular Dynamics and Atoms in Molecules Studies to Identify the Potential Human Epidermal Receptor 2 Intracellular Domain Inhibitors
Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) is a member of the epidermal growth factor receptor family having tyrosine kinase activity. Overexpression of HER2 usually causes malignant transformation of cells and is responsible for the breast cancer. In this work, the virtual screening, molecular docking, quantum mechanics and molecular dynamics methods were employed to study protein–ligand ...
